☆ 001 | Goldenrod City | Action
[A figure awakens with a start, the world blurry and unintelligible in the gloom as he- for a brief moment of panic- expects to feel the weight of thousands of pounds of rubble crushing him. A sharp gasp of air proves to him that he's not underwater either, at least, so where....
...
He blinks hard a few more times before he can fully make out the image of a Pikachu perched on his chest, nose just inches from his and twitching curiously as it sniffs him, red cheeks glowing and forming a very strange picture for Nagi to be looking at, even with the room being otherwise fairly illuminated.
And with that he's suddenly sitting up and now he's on his feet, effectively causing the Pikachu to tumble off of him and onto the bed with a dull squeak of surprise. He gives the room a quick once over, realizing after a moment that his breathing has grown erratic to the point where it's making his chest hurt, and he has to make a conscious effort to calm himself down to take stock of where he is. His gaze falls onto a Pokéball lying on a table nearby, sitting minimized next to a PokéGear. He doesn't make a move for either, instead just staring at them for a long moment before stiffening when he feels something brush up against his side.
Nagi abandons the objects and sudden Pikachu besides, turning quickly on his heel to make for the exit. If anyone happens to be around the base he ignores them in favor of getting out of this unfamiliar building, out to something that he might be able to pick out as fami-
...oh. That's music he's hearing, familiar but distant, and no less burned into his brain from who knows how many hours of mind-numbing game play. Eventually Nagi wanders from the building altogether, not exactly right out in the open, but not in the shadows between buildings either. He's lost and confused more than anything, clenching and unclenching his fists at his sides in the attempt to keep himself focused and together enough to try to think. This has to be a dream, there's no way this could be possible, and yet there's that damn Pikachu chasing him for all it's worth, every bound punctuated with a soft Pi, Pi, Pi.
Nagi stops walking, turning his gaze up to the Pokémon Center he's somehow ended up near. Get yourself lost in a town, first thing you do is look for that red roof. Over his shoulder, a Game Corner, as well as the Pikachu that has planted itself at Nagi's feet, panting a little to catch a breath before unceremoniously grabbing Nagi's pant-leg and scaling him, up and up until he's perched on his shoulder. He ignores it in favor of....well, just staring up at that building, looking a whole heck of a lot like he's forgotten how to breathe for the moment.]

...
RIGHT SO ANYWAY.
At the moment, she's making her way out of the Department Store with a bag in her hand and Yoshiki the Shiny Espeon trotting along happily at her side, and admittedly, the thing that makes her stop and regard the guy in front of the Pokemon Center with a curious eye isn't really anything she can put a finger on — save for the fact that he looks as though he's about her age, for one thing, and he's looking up at the outside world with an expression of wonder that frankly she remembers all too well.
It's probably the same one she and her classmates were all wearing when they first saw the sky again after so long.
So that's...really curious, hmmm.]
Are you lost?
[BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHE'S GOING TO HAVE ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY RESEMBLING TACT WHEN SHE APPROACHES HIM, OH NO. THIS IS KIRIGIRI WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.]
no subject
...Then back to the Pokémon Center. ...and back to Kirigiri. All the while, the Pikachu on his shoulder is watching his every move, ears twitching as he regards the girl curiously. Finally, instead of answering, he just sort of inclines his head sharply in a curt nod, though it's a bit unsure.
Can you really be lost in a place that's probably more familiar than you should feel proud to admit?]
no subject
...Really, there's a lot she could surmise here, but that would require standing next to him in perfect silence just kind of mutually staring off into space, and what kind of weirdos do that.
I mean really.]
This is Goldenrod City.
[That's simple enough.]
Where are you trying to go?
no subject
Nagi thinks quickly, trying to recall...
okay.]
Where is Pallet Town?
[He's still angled facing the Center, but his gaze is back on Kirigiri. So he's either going to get a completely serious answer, or he's going to be told that he's lost his mind. He hasn't yet dismissed the latter himself, yet, SO LET'S SEE...]

It's in Kanto, to the east. There's a ferry that goes there from New Bark Town, as well as a train that runs between Goldenrod and Saffron City.
no subject
Nagi leans back just slightly, his weight on his heels, before he opts to say anything else.]
This isn't Kanto?
[The amount of surprise in that statement would be palpable, if it weren't for the fact that his tone hasn't really changed at all.
Meanwhile, the Pikachu is having little success with getting Nagi's attention, and eventually he notices Yoshiki over there. Tilting his head, he scurries down from his trainer and over to where the Espeon is, standing up on his haunches while he watches her weave around the surroundings.]
no subject
[...All right, someone's evidently new, then. New or ridiculously lost.
Which is strange, because this is Goldenrod City. Hmmm.]
If you have your PokeGear with you, there's a map included. It's possible to see the relative positions of all the cities in the regions that way.
no subject
...
I see.
[Nagi watches Kirigiri for another long- too long- moment, before looking back up at the Pokemon Center. It's a lot of information to try and comprehend all at once. Not only is this...well, the Pokemon world- somehow- but it's some version far more vast than he remembers. And that...well, it's peculiar, it's interesting (he'd be lying to himself if he said he thought otherwise), but for now it's definitely not preferable.
So it looks like the best course of action is to let the conversation trail off there, hope she becomes bored with him and leaves, and then figure out where he's going to go from there.]

...
no subject
Well this is going to be a problem, isn't it? NAGI IS UNSURE IF HE CAN OUT ELIPSIS YOU BUT HE IS GOING TO... TRY...
He waits, but when he notices that Kirigiri hasn't moved an inch, his gaze flicks back over to her.]
...
[...]
Is that all?
[Not exactly "I would like you to leave now please thanks", but.]
no subject
[You are the one that's lost here, bro.]
no subject
...These Gears have maps and Pokedexes on them, I assume. Do they have anything else?
[APPARENTLY WE ARE NOT DONE, and honestly this is something he could have easily figured out on his own later, but it was the first thing to come to mind to say.]

no subject
How varied are the means of communication?
[Are we talking text only, or.]
no subject
[She reaches for her own, drawing it out so she can point out the aforementioned features one by one.]
So, the interconnected network supports texted correspondence, audio, static images, and live video.
no subject
I see.
[Well at least pretend to be impressed, dang.
Regardless, that's information that calms Nagi's nerves somewhat. Also a bit of technology that he will certainly not mind dissecting later.
...Though he can't help but ask.]
Everyone just...receives one of these?
[Like, for free and everything? Don't get him wrong, he's not giving his back, but...you'd think something this highly advanced would be reserved for certain circles only.
...and now he's watching you curiously because Kirigiri are you part of a circle he should know about.]
no subject
[She motions to the Pokemon Center.]
They're free of charge. Staying connected with others on the network is an ability of some importance here, it seems.
no subject
....right then. That's...handy, if nothing else.
But suddenly we have run out of things to say, and while Nagi does attempt to fall into silence again in the hopes that Kirigiri will just leave finally, his gaze turns to that Espeon in the midst of the silence. He hadn't actually looked all that close when she showed up, but...
...
Oh my God what is that even.]
...
What Pokémon is that?
no subject
It's an Espeon. The Psychic evolution of Eevee.
[...]
They're not usually green. That one is...an oddity of sorts.
no subject
But hold on a moment we need to go back a bit-]
Eevee only has three evolutions. Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon.
[Nobody told him there was a Psychic one.]
no subject
SHE IS WELL AWARE OF HOW MANY EVOLUTIONS THERE ARE.]
There are seven. Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, and Glaceon. Fire, Water, Electric, Psychic, Dark, Grass, and Ice.
[It's really sad how easily she can just rattle those off by now.]
no subject
...no, there aren't.
[Says Nagi as he stares at the green, sparkly Espeon.
And suddenly Nagi is feeling almost offended, considering the fact that he knows- he knows- there are only 151 Pokemon to begin with. He knows the rap and everything, he's not five.]
There are 151 Pokémon. That isn't possible.
no subject
If that's the case, why don't you ask Nurse Joy?
[She motions to the center again.]
no subject
YOU KNOW WHAT.
Nagi looks away from the Espeon long enough to look back over at Kirigiri, a bit taken off guard by her suggestion.
And then, without another word, Nagi steps away and into the Pokemon Center, his hands still balled into fists at his sides as he goes. While inside he finds himself tempted to just ignore that suggestion and go straight to one of the PCs, but with nothing but empty boxes that's not really going to help him any, is it?
So he's gone for a few moments, but before long the doors open back up and Nagi steps back out, rather stiffly. His expression is still set, mostly, if it weren't for the fact that he's blushing up to his ears now.]
...how many are there?
[And he's not talking about Eeveelutions.]
no subject
Over six hundred. The exact figure is difficult to confirm, I think on account of the legendary Pokemon that are so rarely sighted, with even less information known about them.
