☆ 001 | Goldenrod City | Action
[A figure awakens with a start, the world blurry and unintelligible in the gloom as he- for a brief moment of panic- expects to feel the weight of thousands of pounds of rubble crushing him. A sharp gasp of air proves to him that he's not underwater either, at least, so where....
...
He blinks hard a few more times before he can fully make out the image of a Pikachu perched on his chest, nose just inches from his and twitching curiously as it sniffs him, red cheeks glowing and forming a very strange picture for Nagi to be looking at, even with the room being otherwise fairly illuminated.
And with that he's suddenly sitting up and now he's on his feet, effectively causing the Pikachu to tumble off of him and onto the bed with a dull squeak of surprise. He gives the room a quick once over, realizing after a moment that his breathing has grown erratic to the point where it's making his chest hurt, and he has to make a conscious effort to calm himself down to take stock of where he is. His gaze falls onto a Pokéball lying on a table nearby, sitting minimized next to a PokéGear. He doesn't make a move for either, instead just staring at them for a long moment before stiffening when he feels something brush up against his side.
Nagi abandons the objects and sudden Pikachu besides, turning quickly on his heel to make for the exit. If anyone happens to be around the base he ignores them in favor of getting out of this unfamiliar building, out to something that he might be able to pick out as fami-
...oh. That's music he's hearing, familiar but distant, and no less burned into his brain from who knows how many hours of mind-numbing game play. Eventually Nagi wanders from the building altogether, not exactly right out in the open, but not in the shadows between buildings either. He's lost and confused more than anything, clenching and unclenching his fists at his sides in the attempt to keep himself focused and together enough to try to think. This has to be a dream, there's no way this could be possible, and yet there's that damn Pikachu chasing him for all it's worth, every bound punctuated with a soft Pi, Pi, Pi.
Nagi stops walking, turning his gaze up to the Pokémon Center he's somehow ended up near. Get yourself lost in a town, first thing you do is look for that red roof. Over his shoulder, a Game Corner, as well as the Pikachu that has planted itself at Nagi's feet, panting a little to catch a breath before unceremoniously grabbing Nagi's pant-leg and scaling him, up and up until he's perched on his shoulder. He ignores it in favor of....well, just staring up at that building, looking a whole heck of a lot like he's forgotten how to breathe for the moment.]

[His was kindof just....on him when he woke up. And actually that was a dumb question because of course you can, you always can. ...Pikachu is the only option Nagi. At least from Yellow's point of view.
The Pikachu lets out a soft squeal of happiness at the pets, immediately pushing his head into her hand. He might be a little staticy to the touch, but he won't shock you or anything!
Meanwhile, Nagi starts again in an attempt to get across what he meant to say-]
Sunkern isn't...a starter Pokémon.

[Juniper just idly continues to pet Pikachu as she speaks, giving a slight shrug.]
Mm...well, it was mine. When I first arrived in New Bark, I found its Pokéball and it was inside.
[She tilts her head to the side, smiling sweetly once more.]
You're quite knowledgeable about Pokémon, Nagi. It's impressive.
[Juniper used Compliment!]

[Unless you cheat, anyway.
Nagi flinches, his breath catching a bit in his throat at the sudden compliment. That.....okay.
What does he.....say....to that?...]
...
......
...Thanks...?
[SURE, THAT'S ACCEPTABLE. It doesn't sound...questioning, so much as it sounds like he's absolutely bewildered and literally doesn't know what to do with that.]

...
...????????
She blinks slowly; she has been taking note of his hesitance, but goodness gracious, she didn't think it was that bad.]
Oh my... Are you alright?
[Is she...you know...MAKING YOU UNCOMFORTABLE NAGI?]
no subject
Breathe Nagi.]
...I'm fine.
[Look, his Pikachu is being cute- just- focus on that. Aww look how cute he is AWWW]
no subject
[She still can't help but be concerned, though, even if she returns her attention to the Pikachu.]
Um... M-May I hold it?

no subject
Heehee, it's really cute... Did you give it a name?
no subject
It....gives Nagi a moment or two to try to process what's happening here before she's asking him something else, at least.]
I haven't yet.
[Honestly, names are the last thing on his mind right now but, you know. Conversation.]

[Heeeeere it is, Nagi. Are you ready to hear her sermon on friendship, because here it comes.]
It's the same as giving friends nicknames, in my opinion. It breaks away any hesitance or awkwardness that you may have had in your friendship before and draws you closer to them. It's especially important to name your starter, I think... They're the one who'll be with you the longest, so...you should try and give him a name soon.
[Juniper, please. What do you even know about Pokémon.]
no subject
Juniper.
Nagi's not violently staring holes into the ground, at least, but now he's giving you the oddest look, Juniper. While she says all that he just watches her, her words as sincere as they could be.
And he...really doesn't know what to do with this, UM.
Time to cut our losses.]
Yes...I will.
[...]
I-I should probably get going.
[The Pikachu lifts his head and lets out a little huff, pulling his feet a bit closer to himself before nestling his head against Juniper's chest. Not likely, friend. He sees how you're standing there, stiff as a post, and he does not care.
Maybe he would if you paid him more attention for like five seconds.]
no subject
[Except for the fact that there is now a Pikachu who's resting indignantly in her arms. Juniper glances down at it, raising an eyebrow before looking back up at Nagi.]
But...I don't think your friend wants to go yet...
no subject
Nagi stands up a bit straighter, frowning as he looks down at the Pikachu.]
Come on. We're leaving.
[The Pikachu tilts his head this way and that before shaking his head briskly. NAH SON WE'RE STAYING.]
no subject
[She doesn't even know how to react in this situation. A Pokémon and its owner are arguing, and she's going to get in the middle of it, oh God. What do.]
no subject
...Well, defiant yes, angry no.
Nagi grimaces at his starter's reluctance, seeming to grow even more anxious. He's got half a mind to just reach out for the Pikachu and take him away forcefully, but he....
The boy blinks slowly, watching the little creature. He stares at him intently, as if expecting him to just leap right from Juniper's arms. As if he expects his body to feel compelled to move, though he's not the one doing it.
...when nothing happens, Nagi's hands tighten a bit at his sides and he looks away from both the Pikachu and Juniper, quickly.
At least the Pikachu seems to notice his abrupt change in demeanor, because after a short pause he seems to give up and gently hops down from her arms, running over so he can climb up to Nagi's shoulder again. Nagi pays it no mind, but he does glance back over at Juniper for just a moment. He definitely looks disturbed by something, but his voice is as level as before. Almost urgent.]
I have to go now.
no subject
[Juniper dips her head in a bit of an apology, taking a few steps back. She wrings her hands together nervously, now avoiding Nagi's gaze.]
I... I'm sorry for bothering you.
no subject
...It likely doesn't look very good, practically sprinting away and all, but.
...
THAT WENT WELL.]
